About the Book
Everything Matters in Baseball tells the story of how Skip Bertman built one of the most successful programs in college sports history. More than a baseball book, it reveals the mindset, preparation, and attention to detail behind five national championships — and the belief that small things, done right, lead to big wins.
Through personal stories, behind-the-scenes insights, and lessons on leadership and mental toughness, Bertman shares principles that apply far beyond the diamond.
Meet Skip Bertman
Skip Bertman is the legendary LSU baseball coach who transformed the Tigers into a national powerhouse. From 1984 to 2001, he led the Tigers to five NCAA National Championships, seven SEC titles, and eleven College World Series appearances. His teams set records not only for winning, but for attendance, helping turn Alex Box Stadium into one of the most electric venues in college baseball.
Later, as LSU’s Athletic Director, he helped guide one of the most successful eras in the university’s athletic history. Often described as “the John Wooden of college baseball,” Bertman’s influence continues to shape players, coaches, and leaders across generations.
